Contrary to reports you may have read, we have been finding Smoker Kings in good numbers over the last week or so. Now I’m in the business of winning Prize money and Bounties on these fish, and booking charters SO no need to tell you the secret as to where and how to “match the hatch”. Book a charter on the “Stiff Competition” and lets get you one of these Slobs while they are still around!

ITS ABOUT TIME. It seams like everything is running a month or so behind HOWEVER kings are here in FORCE. You cant venture 5 miles offshore without running over MASSIVE amounts of bait.
We haven’t seen large numbers of “Smoker” sized Slobs yet (+30lbs) however good sized reel screamers in the 18-24# class have been pretty consistant.
As far as the Tournament trail goes, we failed to make the scales During Wild West 1 (we had a Small -10Lbs in board but could make the 60 mile run in head seas on time). Wild West 2 We weighed a 28# that has us in VERY good position to make a Run right through the top this Fall!

Heres some recent catches..
We finally have pulled the trigger on the New 2013 Contender ST with Trip Yamaha 350s. Now the primary function of this ride is to gain an advantage in our SKA tournament standings. We will be unveiling her at this Years Big Pig Shootout in Sarasota Florida.
Special Thanks to the Great Team at Castaway Marine in Melbourne Florida for geting this deal done.
When not Traveling the Turny Trail, “Stiff Competition” is also available for Charter for Parties up to 6 .
Updating our Website is pretty difficult when your fishing and when your not fishing your usually fixing and when your not fixing your usually buying. Long story short, we are busy so updating this web site is usually a lower priority. Even though I’m now in tune to Facebook and Tweeting, changes are slim that I actually use them. Most of our customers are repeat customers so for them they get it.
So in an effort to keep things updated, Here is a Report for March 2013..
The fishing season in and around St.Petersburg really gets underway with the arrival of Bait generally in Early to Mid March. This year the bait has been failing to make schedule. The toothy Kings we chase up and down the coast simply havent arrived yet. Neither has the bait they chase. Water temps are Too Cold as most of the last couple weeks we havent been able to find anything near the magical 70 degree mark. So Instead we have been targeting HUGE People Size AmberJack for the last couple of months.
Anyone that has ever fished for the fabled “Reef Donkey” knows that when we target them we target the 60-100# class fish. Structure in the 25 Fathom depth has not disappointed!
Shimano Butterfly Jigs and LARGE live bait has been the Ticket.
I will Post once we get some Kings up on the radar.

Hit the 150ft mark on hunt for pelagic action. Bait fish has been everywhere. We landed Monster Reds, AJs, Bonita and a couple of Smalle Kings. Highlight of any trip offshore is running into nice weed lines. The ones we found where loaded with Mahi. We trolled by using Billy Bait Jet Heads and then loaded up using Wings that resulted in non stop 100% Hookups. Unfortunately the ones we caught where sandwich sized and the schools where Peanut Only. The Grouper we wrestled up had bellies full of cigar minnows and where landed on leftover Runners and Threadfins. Vertical Jigs produced results for AJs and additional Grouper. / Capt. John
Still finding a good number to Tarpon in and around South Passage. Easy to load up on good sized Herring around the bridge. Although you can fight the structure and land a fish by the Skyway, the beach is where its at. This fish taken on beach patrol in shallow water during slack tide on greeny with a breakaway lead.
Looking to get out and land one of our area’s most excellent sport fish? Call me and check availability and We will Get you a prize fish and a great photo.
– Due to my schedule I’m having a hard time getting site updates up. So email me for more current photos.
